Delivering P2i in Sedgemoor, Taunton Deane and West Somerset
From very humble beginnings in the City of London in 1844, the YMCA has grown to become a worldwide organisation with 45 million members in 125 countries.
Since it was established, the YMCA has adapted to meet the needs of today’s young people and works with young men and women regardless of race, religion or culture. In every corner of the world, the YMCA is helping young people to build a future. The work we do every day impacts on the lives of young people and their families in the local community.
The YMCA Somerset Coast Group incorporates several already well developed YMCA bases in Somerset; Weston-Super-Mare, Bridgwater, Taunton and Minehead. By joining these previously individual organisations we can offer and provide more efficient care and support to young people across the Somerset Coast. Merging these sites has been a very large undertaking, but a positive one as it has allowed us to communicate more effectively across the coast, further enabling us to focus on recognising and creating opportunities for new and innovative projects, keeping our work developing and moving forward.
Working in partnership with other housing partnerships and YMCA’s under the P2i banner is an exciting opportunity to further consolidate the way that we provide support to our young people in order to create a consistent approach, making it easier and less confusing for young people to access the help that they may need from us.
Without our volunteers and support from all of our local communities we would simply not be able to continue to provide the type and amount of support that we currently do. At the moment we have as many volunteers as we do full time
